Count the taps
On a phone, search for your practice the way a stranger would. Then count every tap needed to reach a point where an appointment can be requested.
Write the number down. Practices often find it is higher than they assumed, and that one of the steps requires information the patient does not have yet.
The four common friction points
The listing does not make the service obvious, so the patient checks a competitor first. The website's primary action is not visible without scrolling. The contact path asks for information the patient cannot supply yet. The booking flow assumes the patient already knows what appointment type they need.
Fix the cheapest one first
Visibility of the primary action is usually the least expensive change and the easiest to evaluate. Change one thing, then re-count the taps.
